Embracing Change: Why New Chapters Keep Life Exciting
Change is Good!
Well, I’ve moved again, for the 3rd time this year. How do I feel about it? Too good…
~That may be a slight exaggeration, but the dramatic effect is necessary.~
I’m obsessed with change. I crave it. I’m not sure how many people are with me on this, but it just feels so exciting to me.
Whenever I’m feeling stuck, I think: what can I change right now?
I hate feeling stagnant — like I could be living a better life than I am right now.
And when it comes to hobbies, jobs, routines, and apparently housing, I love to switch it up.
I think a lot of this stems from the fact that I am a person who is constantly living for the big moments. The highs are high, and I am always striving for that feeling.
Maybe that’s not the best way to live, but it’s who I am by design. I’m a Sagittarius after all!
If you’ve read some of my other writing, then you’d know that I’ve made many lifestyle changes in the past year. I’ve dialed back some of my “livelier” habits and embraced slow living. Maybe that’s just part of growing up.
And maybe I’m not living for the same highs as I was a few years ago, but that need for adrenaline hasn’t subsided. This is where change takes its place. It keeps my life exciting, per se.
And no, I didn’t actually want to be moving my life this much; things just run their course. So I’ve decided to embrace it as much as I can.
It’s important to remember that routine keeps us grounded throughout these changes. I would be lost if I didn’t establish a plan that keeps my feet on the ground when my head is in the clouds.
Also, change comes with stress, so it’s better to take it in small doses, but again, we don’t always have this choice. That’s why it is so important to make the most of it.
Moving? You get to create an environment that inspires you and develop a new routine that makes your life better.
Changing careers? You get to learn new skills and (hopefully) be closer to living your dream life.
It can be as little as getting a new haircut or as big as getting married —- change will always make its mark on you. It’s how you receive it that counts.
Do you embrace change or hide from it?
At the end of the day, this latest move reminded me that change isn’t always convenient, but it always teaches me something. Every time I shift my space, my routine, or my perspective, I uncover a new part of myself.
Maybe you thrive on change like I do, or maybe you’d rather keep things steady. Either way, change has a way of finding us. The real question is: when it calls, how will you answer it?
I’d love to know! There’s no wrong answer; we’re all created differently. I honestly feel like I’m on an island with this, so I’m interested to hear 🙂
