Creativity as a Healing Ritual
How Tapping Into Creativity Became My Wellness Practice
Using Energy as a Guide
There’s a certain energy that comes through when you’re doing something that you love. Time slows down, or maybe it disappears entirely. You’re not just doing, you’re flowing.
That’s how I feel when I’m creating. It’s not just a hobby, it’s a soul-led practice that grounds me, inspires me, and brings me back to myself. Over time, I’ve come to realize that creativity is one of the most powerful forms of healing I’ve ever known.
And during a recent aura reading in Salem, I got the confirmation I didn’t know I needed: I’m aligned, I’m on the right path, and my energy is finally matching my intention.
The Aura Reading Experience
We took a trip up to Salem last weekend to do all of the spooky and witchy Halloween things, and it was a blast. I had never been to Salem before and it absolutely lived up to the hype. There were so many cool shops and activities that truly celebrated the spirit of Halloween. The scary characters walking the streets, the historic sights, the fun photo ops - 10/10 seriously.
I heard that Salem had a few places that did Aura Photography and I knew it was something I wanted to do. As woo-woo as it is, I genuinely enjoy that kind of thing and always find a fun takeaway from it. My friend, Kayla, and I got our photos taken together and then had a woman (who absolutely gave witch energy) describe what our colors meant and how they affect us.
We went to ASCEND in Salem, and I would recommend going there. It is also a really great crystal shop with beautiful jewelry pieces. Online, they describe our auras as “how the world perceives you and the filter through which you perceive the world”.
Kayla and I honestly really resonated with our results. We didn’t feel like they captured the whole picture of who we are, but it definitely made sense for this specific point in our lives. And after further research, I did see that their website says exactly that:
“Aura photography captures a moment in time, the true ‘you’ in the present moment.”
What the Colors Revealed
As you can see in the photo, I had mostly yellow and orange, with some green. The witch essentially told me to keep up the good work (ok Lauren!). Green signifies healing and that was really cool to see, considering I’ve been putting in the work lately. Yellow shows playfulness, generosity, and confidence, and orange is for productivity, creativity, and expression. She said that my work is bringing healing to not only myself, but to the world, and that felt powerful. Ever since I started this blog and started spending more time on my creative endeavors, I have felt so good. I feel charged and inspired. It was nice to hear a third party confirm that I’m on the right track.
Because, honestly, it can be difficult to know if we are on the right path - if what we are doing and working towards is truly meant for us. With our day jobs taking up so much of our lives, it can feel confusing to know if we are aligned with our purpose.
So, yeah, if a Salem witch tells me that I’m doing a good job, I’m gonna believe her!

Healing Through Creativity
Like I said, tapping into my creative energy lately has genuinely healed me. I spend less time on things that take more than they give. I put my focus and energy on what excites and motivates me.
Before I started creating regularly, my energy went mostly to negative thoughts and honestly, I was probably a bit insufferable. The light inside of me was dull and I don’t think I was truly aware of that.
Sometimes you don’t know how much love and light you have inside of you until something brings it out. Tapping into my creativity was that thing for me. My mind is now the flowers instead of the rain.
Wellness isn’t just what we eat or how much we sleep, it’s also the energy we cultivate. This aura reading made me realize how much my creative work is fueling my personal healing, and that energy can ripple outward to others, too.
Take this blog for example - I have been writing for years but didn’t start sharing my work until recently. Yes, I write for myself and because I enjoy it, but I believe a shift occurs when you share your work with others. When you like something enough to put it out in the world, that can be quite monumental. You’re not only creating something for yourself, but for others to enjoy, too. As long as we continue to create because we love it, and nothing else, we will heal.
How to Tap Into Your Own Creative Healing
If you’re someone who feels creatively blocked or disconnected from yourself, here are some things you can do to get back to you:
Try journaling for 5 minutes a day with no agenda - just let the thoughts flow.
Create something with your hands (painting, baking, collage, etc.)
Get out in nature
Try something you’ve never done before (take a dance class, a pottery class, get a piano lesson, etc.)
Look for new ways to find inspiration (read a new book, hang out with a new friend, travel to a new place, reorganize your space, etc.)
Get off your phone and be bored
For me, this looks something like brain-dump journaling, taking more photos, exploring new places, and spending more time with loved ones.
Take your time, stop rushing, be present. Whatever you can do to keep yourself aligned with healing energy.
Leave with this
I think the aura reading served as a mirror - one that reflected not just how others might see me, but how I want to show up in the world. More light, more color, more intention. I’ll take that as a sign to keep going.
So, if your soul is asking you to create - let it. The energy doesn’t lie.

Time to revisit Salem and have my aura read!😘
